These replacement traces for Anti Twist Rigs are tied with 150lb top quality mono using a Big Game Lure Knot, super  strong and 100% reliable. A 695lb Stainless Steel Swivel (as with all our rigs) and either a Mustad or Eagle Claw Big Game Circle hook. Sizing of Circle Hooks is different from standard hooks so do not think they are huge, they are the correct size for Halibut fishing and have taken Halibut of all sizes up to and over 400lb in Norway.

Supplied in a pack of two, attach via the split ring on your Anti Twist Lead.

These rigs are made using VMC 6X - 4/0 trebles or Owner ST66 - 5X - 4/0 trebles and Gamakatsu 5X - 9/0 Live Bait Hooks, in either case they are expensive top quality hooks and trebles and the very best does not come cheap. Which you catch a Halibut on an Anti Twist Rig, it pays to closely examine your trace as Halibut have sharp teeth and a 120cm plus Halibut can make a mess of your trace. If you find the trace is damaged just replace it and carry on fishing and you can re tie another leader in the cabin at night.

If you buy a couple of Anti Twist Rigs always take a spare trace with you. Your first Halibut in Norway may only be 130cm for but your second could be over 300cm, in Norway, dreams really do come true !

This Halibut Anti Twist Rig is designed for fishing for Halibut in Norway with a dead bait. There are three sizes of Norway Anti Tangle leads available, 250g, 300g,350g and 450g. There are times when the current is exceptionally strong and you may need to join two Halibut Anti Twist Leads together with an extra strong split ring to get you bait down to the bottom, with our leads, you have the option to joint two different sizes together to get the right depth. Equally, at times you do not need 350g (12oz) and these leads give you the option to go down to 300g (10oz) or 250g (8oz).

These Anti Twist Leads have been coated with a chip resistant luminous coating which really glows when charged and will take being hit against the rocks, bashed on the bottom in fact thrown again a concrete floor as hard as you like. You may scuff it, you may turn the wires eyes over if you throw it hard enough but you WILL NOT chip off the coating. They are a little more expensive than the standard powder coated and baked version (£1.00 each) as the process takes longer to apply but in my opinion it is well worth it. My next trip will only see me taking the Anti Twist Rigs finished in Anti Chip luminous coating.

The Halibut Anti Tangle Rigs are supplied fully assembled with 6ft of 150lb high quality supple mono, tied with a Domhoff knot (a knot that gets tighter the more it is pulled) to a 600lb b.s. swivel at one end and a 4/0 6x treble at the other (Mustad or VMC). Simply tie your main line to the swivel and you are ready to fish. Attach your Coalfish / Mackerel bait to the trebles  ensuring the top treble goes in through the top lip and out of the bottom lip ensuring the mouth stays closed and the second treble down the flank. (the rig can be double crimped if you prefer, just let me know your requirements)

The Anti Twist Rig with Anti Chip coating comes in four colours, Lumi Green, Lumi Blue, Lumi Orange and Lumi Pink. There will be photos on this page shortly clearly showing the leads in daylight and `glowing in the dark`, I have retain the services of a photographer to take the `glowing in the dark` shots for me.

(PLEASE NOTE, LUMI BLUE COATING IS OFF WHITE IN NATURAL DAYLIGHT, ONCE CHARGED AND IN THE DARK IT GLOWS BLUE, ghostly blue !!!!!!)

When you get these Anti Twist Rigs with Anti Chip coating, simply leave them on the side in artifical light on them for an hour or so, turn them over and round occasionally so the full surface area get hit but the artifical light then take them in the loo or a dark garage without putting the light on and you will see them glowing for you. When you go to Norway, take the leads back to your cabin at the end of the day and leave thing on the side, the table etc in artifical light and give them a really good charge for the next day.(don`t forget the bloddy things when you go out the next day !!!)

Please see the additional images / colour chart below, you can clearly see the four colours available in the options list.

We have added the option to use a 5X - 6/0 Live Bait Hook and a 5X - 4/0 Treble. This offers slightly different presentation and reduces down to one treble in the Halibuts mouth.

Later this year we will have Halibut Anti Twist leads in larger sizes 600g and 750g. If this is of interest to you please let me know.

For Flouro colour options, let me know your requirements.

The Anti Twist - Bait Ball is two ways (rigs) to fish a dead bait for Halibut in one pack. There is a 16oz (448g) Cannon Ball Anti Twist Lead with a 1m long conventional Anti Twist rig consisting of 150lb mono, 695lb Stainless Steel Swivel at one end and at the other a Gamakatsu 9/0 Live Bait Hook 5X strong and a 4/0 - 5X treble on the bottom. With this rig you drift your bait across the seas bed, sometime two turns up and up to eight turns up rigged with a dead Coalfish or Mackerel for bait.

With the Bait Ball Rig attached to the lead, you have a trace about 14" long with a 9/0 Gamakatsu Live Bait Hook 5X strong and a 4/0 - 5X treble on the end, to this you attach your dead bait but, as the rig is much shorter you can fish yoiur bait much closed tot he sea bed as there is less rig to worry about to snag the bottom. I last year used them to great effect at the slacker end of the tide and bouncing the lead on the drift and could see the bait twisting below the boat as I worked it GENTLY (it is not a pirk, move your rod tip 6£ at a time no more) and by doing so you make the dead bait look like a dying fish as it twists and flashes along the sea bed.

To change between the two rigs, just remove one swivel from the split ring and add the other rig, take seconds.

The Cannon Ball Swing Jig is a brilliant lure which began life in the USA a few years ago. Popular in the small sizes with predator anglers, jigs such as the Football Head Swing jig have grown in popularity in both the UK and Europe. Some have tried to put together and hotch potch lure with a Cannon Ball lead mould, myself included and although good and very effective, it was not great. THIS IS GREAT. The idea behind the Cannon Ball Swing Jig is to allow the soft plastic lure maximum movement in the water, creating maximum vibration as it pulsates in the current and this design ensures that it does exactly that.

The hook rotates in 180 degree arc on a stainless steel eyelet allowing the lure to move unrestricted as you fish. Hook size can be from an 8/0 O`Shaunessy up to a 13/0 if you want it and that is dependent on what size your soft plastic lure is. Within reason you can rig amost any soft plastic lure on this jig as there is no collar to split the lure (just add a little super glue when rigging to stop the lure spinning on the hook shank). I would not attempt to use a jelly worm for instance but any shad of 5" or more, 6" grubs, 5" creatures can all go on this jig with ease without splitting. You fish this lure slower than a conventional Jig certainly for Cod and Halibut in Norway, just the slightest twitch on your rod to (6" to 12") will set this Jig on fire, just raise your rod slowly and lower slowly by the smallest amount.

The Cannon Ball Swing Jigs come in 8oz (224g), 10oz (280g), 12oz (336g) and 16oz (448g), the larger sizes come rigged as standard with a 12/0 hook, the small two a 10/0 but, you can have these lures however you want them using hooks from 8/0 up to 13/0.

They are offered in a range of colours but remember this, if you are going to use these for Halibut, PINK is the no.1 colour choice based on the performance of them this year in Norway. (we await samples of the bright chrome plated ones shortly, if it is successful they will be added to the range if the quality meets the required standard).

These Jigs will also work in the UK as well as Iceland and Norway for Cod and Halibut hunters and I am certain they will account for some huge Ling next year in Norway.
