Jigheads, Lead Heads for Norway Cod, Halibut etc

We offer a range of specialist Jigheads / Lead Heads for anglers travelling to norway for huge Cod, Halibut and Coal Fish. Many of these products are only available from us, manufactured to very high standards in the UK. All our products are extensively tested in Norway, fishing for hugeCod, Halibut and Coal Fish with a great deal of success.

We use Mustad, VMC and Eagle Claw hooks in our jigs in size 7/0, 8/0, 9/0, 10/0, 12/0, 14/0 and 14/0. All the hooks have the same things in common, they come from quality suppliers and are super strong and 100% reliable. Our jigs of fishing for Coalfish have proven to be the strongest on the market. Fishing for coalfish in Norway demands a super strong jig hook as you have to play the fish so hard to prevent them dying on you. We tried all the top brands on the market and in most cases the hook bend, straightened or snapped under the pressure. We then produced our own custom jigs using the above super strong hooks and the issue went away.

We have jigs / lead heads from 84g (3oz) up to 672g (24oz) available now and shortly for those fishing in very deep water of strong currents will have jigs up to 900g (32oz), in hooks sizes from 7/0 to 14/0. Available in Plain Lead, Powder Coated and shortly Chrome Plated.

You will not find a more comprehensive range of Jig Heads / Lead Heads on the market specifically manufactured, tried and tested for Norway. (see Albums page, we have caught lots of Halibut when testing these Jigs)

Introducing our new Casting Cannon Ball Jig. I came up with this version with Jig Spinning in mind but also because of the problem of rigging slimmer soft plastics onto bigger Jig Heads and having them split. Most big jig heads are made with rigging big soft plastics and have a large barbed collar moulded into them, the Casting Cannon Ball has an 18 guage wire keeper moulded into it instead and allows you to moumt slimmer soft plastics onto large hooks on heavier jig heads.

There re currently three weight options on an 11/0 O’shaunessy and three weight options on a 13/0 O’Shaunessy hook, both with wide gapes and both super strong. The Jig has three stainless steel loops, two at the top to allow for verticle jigging or use the one at the front for Jig Spinning, the eye at the bottom allows for you to mount a stinger when using larger soft plastics.

Available in both Flourescent and Luminous Anti Chip colours with a big 3D eye secured in place with epoxy resin so it will not fall off after five minutes in the water.

All of these Cannon Ball Casting Jigs suit convention Shads and big grubs up to 15" long, they are finished to an extremely high standard. The 11/0 version is ideally suited to Jig Spinning, that is casting the pure away from the boat and jigging it all the way back along the bottom, a devastating method for catch Halibut in shallower waters.

We  offer these Jigs mounted on our own exclusive Monster Grubs, 10" in the 11/0 and 15"on the 13/0 with a  stinger.

In the smaller sizes these jigs will be ideal for casting to Coalfish shoals rigged with the 10" grubs, available in numerous colours they look stunning and in the clear waters of Norway the big eye and bright colours really stand out.

Sold in packs of 2, this is the 4oz version you are buying

Available in 4oz,6oz,8oz - 11/0 and 8oz, 10oz an 12oz in 13/0.

Introducing the new Super Halibut Jigs from Tommyfish. These Jigs have been designed to produce the ultimate Jig in strength and reliablility to fish for the huge fish that are found in the waters around Norway. We have worked on the conclusion that if it is good enough, strong enough and reliable enough for fishing in Norway, it is good enough to use anywhere.

They are manufactured using Mustad and Eagle Claw hooks, two Stainless Steel eyelets, large recessed eyes for extra attraction and high quality powder coating which is then baked to make the Jig more chip resistant. (we are waiting to see the results of Bright Chorme Plating these Jigs as well).

The 3oz, 4oz, 5oz, and 6oz Jigs are manufactured with Mustad 9/0 O`Shaunessy hooks, super strong and ultra reliable. The collar size has been reduced to help eliminate splitting the soft plastic lures used to rug the Jigs. Additional pictues show them rigged with Savage 20cm Sandeels which we used in `A` in the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway this summer with great results for catching Coal Fish up to 36lb with lots, almost every other fish was over 30lb. We started using other jigs manufactured by big names and yes we caught fish but you have to play Coal Fish really hard or they do not go back alive and in doing so we kept bending the hooks. Out came the Super Halibut Jigs in 3oz and 4oz with the 9/0 Mustad O`Shaunessy hooks and that problem was solved once and for all. So impressed were the guides that they had every Super Halibut Jig I had left when I returned home and have had two more batches since then. We also caugh Halibut up to approx. 90lb that week, also on these Jigs but using the larger ones.

The tests / trials we have carried out this summer have proven that these Jigs can handle any fish you are likely to catch in Norway and as a result can be used with 100% confidence in the UK for Cod, Pollack, Ling etc.

The full range currently consists of Jigs weighing 3oz, 4oz, 5oz, 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 16oz. Shortly when the moulds are finished we will add 20oz, 24oz, 28oz, 32oz. This will give us the ultimate range of Jigs in the UK and Europe and definately the heaviest. The bigger sizes for very deep water and strong currents and giving the adventurous angler the option to rig and fish a Jig that will get them into the catching zone regardless of how fast the current or deep the water.

The 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 16oz Super Halibut Jigs are designed for truly big fish. Halibut, Cod and Huge Ling found in Norway have been the test samples and have performed extremely well during trials this year. They have accounted for a number of Halibut up to and above 150cm and to date have not failed in anyway and not one fish hooked with the Super Halibut Jigs has been lost. The 8oz and 10oz come with a 10/0 hook, the 12oz and 16oz a 12/0 or 13/0 hook, the latter recommended for larger shad bodies like the Crazy Daisy bodies in the additional images. These Jigs are highly recommended for Halibut and Skrei Cod, those huge Cod that will break you back !, once hooked they will come to the boat as these hooks do not let go.

Fishing Norway and Iceland, those fishing Shetland Isles for huge Ling will reap the benefits of these larges Jig Heads.

The Cannon Ball Swing Jig is a brilliant lure which began life in the USA a few years ago. Popular in the small sizes with predator anglers, jigs such as the Football Head Swing jig have grown in popularity in both the UK and Europe. Some have tried to put together and hotch potch lure with a Cannon Ball lead mould, myself included and although good and very effective, it was not great. THIS IS GREAT. The idea behind the Cannon Ball Swing Jig is to allow the soft plastic lure maximum movement in the water, creating maximum vibration as it pulsates in the current and this design ensures that it does exactly that.

The hook rotates in 180 degree arc on a stainless steel eyelet allowing the lure to move unrestricted as you fish. Hook size can be from an 8/0 O`Shaunessy up to a 13/0 if you want it and that is dependent on what size your soft plastic lure is. Within reason you can rig amost any soft plastic lure on this jig as there is no collar to split the lure (just add a little super glue when rigging to stop the lure spinning on the hook shank). I would not attempt to use a jelly worm for instance but any shad of 5" or more, 6" grubs, 5" creatures can all go on this jig with ease without splitting. You fish this lure slower than a conventional Jig certainly for Cod and Halibut in Norway, just the slightest twitch on your rod to (6" to 12") will set this Jig on fire, just raise your rod slowly and lower slowly by the smallest amount.

The Cannon Ball Swing Jigs come in 8oz - 10/0 hook(224g), 10oz - 10/0 hook (280g), 12oz - 12/0 hook  (336g) and 16oz - 12/0 hook (448g), the larger sizes come rigged as standard with a 12/0 hook, the small two a 10/0 but, you can have these lures however you want them using hooks from 8/0 up to 13/0.

They are offered in a range of colours but remember this, if you are going to use these for Halibut, PINK is the no.1 colour choice based on the performance of them this year in Norway. (we await samples of the bright chrome plated ones shortly, if it is successful they will be added to the range if the quality meets the required standard).

These Jigs will also work in the UK as well as Iceland and Norway for Cod and Halibut hunters and I am certain they will account for some huge Ling next year in Norway.

Chrome Plated Halibut Jigs, these are the latest addition to our range of top quality Jigs designed for fishing in Norway and anywhere else you will encounter very big fish. They are the same as the standard Super Halibut Jigs but have been bright Chrome Plated, very high quality Chrome Plating has been chosen for a stunning finish. The bright chrome finish gives them that little extra flash, little extra attraction especially in clear water on a bright day, just a bit more attraction to encourage the fish to surge forward and grab your lure before it gets away.

Currently available in 3oz, 4oz, 5oz, 6oz. Will also be available in 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 16oz at the end of June.

They are not cheap, when I found out what it cost to have them chrome plated I nearly had a second heart attack but, top quality tackle is not cheap and when you pay to travel abroad to catch huge fish you want to be sure you have the best tackle available, tackle you can rely on.

The hooks are 4X Mustad and Eagle Claw in sizes from 8/0 to 10/0, capable of landing the biggest Coalfish, biggest Cod and really big Halibut.

These Screw in Ball Jigs are a brilliant option for fishing soft plast lures in Norway for Cod, Coalfish and Halibut. They allow you to use the slim soft plastics, rigging them but screwng the head into the plastic and the hook arrangement is done via a stinger treble.

The issue with using slim plastics and a conventional 8oz + (224g) Jigs is that the colar on the jig will split the plastic everytime making it impossible to use any soft plastic lure you choose as once they split they are useless.

I used these last year in Norway and had Cod, Coalfish and Halibut on them to great effect. I used them inconjunction with the Iris Popeye Shads and they were brilliant.

They are not cheap but the best things in life are not. With these jigs you can use almost any lure you choose to, Jig them, Cast them (in the smaller sizes), they really do work brilliantly.

This is the 150g version, sold individually
