Another Halibut, 130cm ish came on the first fishing day
This Halibut was one of five I caught on the first day in Havoysund in August 2017, it was my first of the day and week so this one came in the boat and went back to the cabin with us and it tasted wonderful.
The moment when the fight is over !!!
This halibut around the 120cm mark came up to the side of the boat, saw a couple of us and though not sure I like this and swam off again/ We did land it, took its picture and let it go.
Coming out of the harbour at Havoysund(2017)
We went off on a long trip on this day and the scenery was amazing. Flat seas meant we could almost fly and in no time we were catching Halibut.
Halibut mark in Havoysund 2017
This is one of the many marks for Halibut outside Havoysund. The scenery is stunning, the water is gin clear and just to be there is amazing. Suddenly the rod top trembles and how big is the Halibut, 20lb or 200lb ?, you simply do not know and never will unless you give it a go !
Nordic Sea Angling Boats 2016
These are the boats you will use when booking your Norway Holiday with Sportsquest Holidays. Owned by Nordic Sea Angling they are brilliant boats, fast, lots of room and very stable.
Big Coalie on a surface popper
This 25lb+ Coalies was taken on a surface popper in Setember 2018 at `A`. Great fight, really exciting watching them chase the lure jumping clear out of the water when they miss the lure.
126cm Halibut from A 2018
Taken in September 2018 on one of the two days we were able to fish. Caught on an Anti Twist rig (pink), it was a cracking fish in beautiful condition. This one came home with him.
A Dab from Nappstrumen Northern Norway
A Dab you think, why put a picture in the site of a Dab ?, well this one weighed just under 2lb 15oz, that’s why and I caught two of them around the same size in a week.
Sheppertons 30lb Coalfish
Nice Coalfish from A in September 2018 taken just below the surface on our Norway Slug Jig and a pink shad. Note the rainbow behind him, we had just gone through a torrential down pour.
Small Halibut Havoysund 2017
Not all the Halibut you catch in Norway are huge but they are all beautiful. This one was 90cm, fought like a 120cm Halibut and was returned safely to the water to get bigger for next time I am out there.
26lb of Muscle from Nappstrumen 2016
Toms fish of the week was this beautiful stunning Coal Fish which went off like a train. It was his first ever Coal Fish and the biggest we caught last year. This year we went to ’A’ in the Lofoten Islands and caught Coal Fish like you have never seen, photos will follow soon.
6lb Plaice caught Nappstrumen, Lofoten Islands 2016
Andrews biggest Plaice and a beauty it was at 6lb, caught on cooked prawn from the super market as most of them are.
Tony Martin Haddock
Rough day in August 2018 when we could not get out to the stream at A. Just outside the camp a sheltered spot under the cliffs we found Haddock to roughly 8lb along with Cod and Coalies. No huge fish but great fun on light tackle and they taste so good fresh.
Mikes 20lb Halibut, Nappstreumen Lofoten Iasland 2016
The Halibut was taken literally 2" under the surface right next to the boat having followed his 4" shad all the way up from the bottom and deciding right at the last minute he was going to have it.It was returned.
70lb Halibut Nappstrumen 2016
My biggest of 2016 and a fish that changed my life thanks to my dearest friend Tom. (Who still has not caught a Halibut over 10lb).
128cm Halibut Havoysund 2017
128cm Halibut from Havoysund August 2017. Taken on a dead Coalfish using an Anti Tangle rig and Circle Hook. One of seventeen taken that week. A truly Awesome place to fish.
146cm Halibut, my best of this trip. Havoysund August 2017
This beauty came up to the boat and went down again, up to the boat and down again, up to the boat and down again and repeated that twice more. Caught in 25m of water it was brilliant fun, the great feeling of being totally under the fishes control, if it wants to go it goes and there is nothing you can do about it.
Havoysund 2017 138cm Halibut
Another stunning fish taken on this trip. It was also taken on an Anti Twist Rig (Pink), 12/0 Circle Hook and Coal Fish Dead Bait, god I love Havoysund.
155cm Halibut caught on Float Fished Coal Fish 2016
A customer kindly sent me this photo last year. It was his second days fishing when he took this one on the float, on the first day he had one of 172cm on a Spro Shad 25cm.
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands
Another view of my 200lb Halibut from `A`, September 2018
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands
My biggest to date, caught in September in `A`, Lofoten Islands. Taken on a Mackerel dead Bait, Lumi Pink Anti Twist Rig and a 12/0 circle hook. It came up to the boat after 10 minutes and I managed to get the jaw hook into it only to have to spin off the hook before I could pull it through and it went straight back down to the bottom again. It did come back up after another 15 minutes and thanks to Alex the Nordic guide who jumped off his boat onto mine, we secured it the second time.
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands
Final image of my 200lb Halibut caught September 2018. 178cm long but incredibly fat, Nordic guide Alex said at least 200lb and that`s good enough for me.Beautiful fish, it was of course released after the photographs. My only regret was that she would not roll over for a picture of her back, as hard as we tried we could not turn her over.
Maybe, we will meet again.
430lb Halibut from A in Northern Norway
I have said time and time again, dreams can come true in Norway and for this lady they did last year (2017). Caught from a mark I fished the week earlier, this fish grabbed her bait and after an epic battle the fish was measured and checked against the charts and weighed 430lb, the rest is history. Go to Norway, it could happen to you !
Coalfish from A - Northern Norway
A stunning coalfish from A in northern Norway. The place is alive with them and up to 40lb. They fight so hard and when on the bite you will catch fish after fish to the point you cannot take anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing Rainbow
Just after a massive squall this appeared in the distance in September 2018 at A, Lofoton Islands. It was stunning
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands 2018
See the size of the tail, this is where the power comes from when they take off with your bait.
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands 2018
200lb Halibut from A Lofoton Islands 2018
Another angle of my biggest Halibut to date, at 200lb, I still dream about it. You too can catch Halibut of this size and much bigger, I have always said dreams come true in Norway and here`s the proof. Speak to Paul Stevens at Sportsquest Holidays, he will help make your dreams come true.
Big Coalie comes to the boat
A 20lb+ Coalie comes to the boat. Caught in the Stream in `A` on a sandeel lure. Quickly released and back out for another.
Havoysund 2017, a magical place where dreams come true
The boats (Nordic Sea Angling) and the cabins, a view from across the docks where you see your accommodation and boats when you first arrive on your holiday with Sportsquest Holidays.
156cm Halibut caught by Gareth John, Havoysund 2017
This for was taken and truly deserved by Gareth John, an Essex Charter skipper and all round nice bloke. He worked hard the whole week with his Savage Shads and was finally rewarded with this beauty. It obviously went back.
Cabins at the entrance to harbour at A
As you go into the harbour at A, these cabins are perched on the rocks very close to the sea. A stunning view from these cabins but very exposed when the wind blows !
30lb + Coalie for Jeffrey Harvey
August 2018, caught on a big shad whilst Halibut fishing, this cracking fish fought like crazy and Jeff did really well getting it in.
Green Grass with another stunning Plaice from Nappstrumen
We have too many Plaice like this to recall in Nappstrumen and the mark for Plaice fishing it honestly three minutes away from the cabins. Drift after drift produced Plaice like this one and bigger, truly stunning. The best thing about Nappstrumen is that you can always fish if the weather is rough and even if you have to stay inside you can still catch awesome fish.
Another stunning Halibut from Havoysund
Another stunning fish from Havoysund, god I love that place.
Haddock Cove
We nick named this mark Haddock Cove, just outside the camp at A, we fished this mark when we could not get out further due to strong winds and and over three weeks it produced a lot of Haddock, Cod and Coal fish on days when many other boats struggled with really big seas.
Halibut on the Float, ’A’ Lofoten Islands 2017
For anyone who likes fishing in Norway and has not doen so yet, you have got to catch a Halibut on a float. It is like Jaws in real life, the rod is in the holder when the float goes under, click, click, click, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ as it takes off at full speed, absolutely magical.
